A digital advertising sign at London's O2 arena has been caught showing a Windows 10 restart notification, layered over an ad for the venue's attractions. Among those attractions is an indoor skydiving experience, which makes the prospect of an abrupt mid-session restart feel a little less charming than usual.

The sign itself had nothing to do with the skydiving rig; it was simply the billboard beneath the notification. Still, as The Register's Richard Speed notes, the sight is a very public reminder of how stubbornly Windows 10 refuses to leave the stage.

Statcounter data, imperfect but the best available without official Microsoft figures, puts Windows 11 at just under 70 percent of desktop market share, with Windows 10 clinging to roughly 30 percent. Windows 10 formally left support last year, but Microsoft's Extended Security Updates program keeps patches flowing for a fee. In June 2026 the company quietly pushed the consumer ESU window out to 2027, and commercial customers can buy up to three extra years.

The misconfigured sign and Microsoft's muted extension make the same point: Windows 10 is not going anywhere soon.
