According to a tip sent in by a Register reader, one of the information kiosks at a Six Flags park in San Antonio, Texas — almost certainly Six Flags Fiesta Texas — has stopped working properly, even though the rides around it are running just fine.

Whatever has splashed across the display is presumably rainwater, though given how close the kiosk sits to the coasters, something less pleasant can't be ruled out. Either way, the machine is stuck showing an error that demands a custom app be installed. The setup looks like Android or Linux, and whoever configured it appears to have pointed the software at a URL that doesn't actually work.

There is an OK button sitting on the screen, but given the state of things, nobody fancied poking it to see whether the touch panel still responds.

The scenery visible around the kiosk suggests it stands near the Iron Rattler, a wood-and-steel hybrid coaster capable of sending its trains along at up to 70 mph, while a shape reflected in the glass could be the nearby SUPERGIRL Sky Flight — though that's only a guess.

Whether a bad software update or a service falling over is to blame is anyone's guess. Perhaps, jokes The Register, the park should just add a new ride: The Garden of Borked Kiosks, ending appropriately with the genuine dread of watching a screen announce, 'Windows is installing updates. Please wait…'
