RoadRunner's maintainers have released version 3 along with updated PHP packages. The project has returned to Semantic Versioning, and all PHP packages use the shared roadrunner/* vendor name. Existing namespaces remain unchanged. The release requires PHP 8.2 or newer. Its API is considered stable, with no further major version planned for the foreseeable future.

The http.middleware pipeline now runs from left to right. RoadRunner adds an NSQ jobs driver and HTTP rate limiting. It also supports the PROXY protocol and Zstd. Named worker pools and Redis locks are new. gRPC server reflection is included too. Memory usage is more stable under load.

The TCP plugin has been removed, while the tcp:// relay continues to work. The migration guide is available at https://docs.roadrunner.dev/docs/general/v3-migration.

The maintainers describe Rapira as the next major step. It is a new PHP application server written in Rust. Rapira embeds PHP inside the same process as the server, eliminating pipes and sockets entirely. The project is aimed at high-performance HTTP and gRPC endpoints, with more development to come. Details are available at https://rapira.rs/.
