Taylor Otwell announced Laravel LSP at Laracon US 2026, a first-party language server that brings framework-aware intelligence to any editor. It indexes your project and provides completions, diagnostics, and go-to definition for config keys, routes, views, translations, middleware, container bindings, and Eloquent. It speaks the Language Server Protocol over stdio, so it works with Sublime Text, Zed, VS Code, Cursor, Neovim, and OpenCode. Developers on non-VS Code editors have relied on community projects for this kind of Laravel-specific autocomplete. Laravel LSP moves that into official support.

The same day, the Model Context Protocol released its 2026-07-28 specification, introducing a stateless protocol core, an extensions framework, tasks, and authorization hardening. Anthropic confirmed Claude will support the new spec, and Netlify said the stateless core makes MCP a first-class HTTP workload with no session management overhead.

Both releases point to the same trend: developer tooling is becoming standardized and interoperable. Laravel LSP uses LSP, the established standard for editor intelligence. MCP 2026-07-28 is becoming the standard for how AI agents connect to tools and services. The web development ecosystem is maturing from proprietary integrations to open protocols.

InfiniStrategy take: Standards win. The frameworks and tools that adopt open protocols like LSP and MCP will integrate with everything. The ones that build walled gardens will become isolated. For web developers, choosing tools that speak the common language of the ecosystem is a long-term productivity decision.

Config keys, route names, view paths, translations, middleware aliases and container bindings become real editor knowledge

⚡ Type config('app.time and get completions with resolved values shown inline (app.timezone → UTC). A wrong key surfaces instantly as a diagnostic: "Config [ap] not found."

🎯 Coverage spans routes, Blade views, translations, config, env vars, assets & Mix, middleware, #Inertia, #Livewire, auth & policies, container bindings, validation rules, controller actions and #Eloquent.

🔗 Document links make view('orders.index') and route('') clickable, and the same index backs go-to definition, which is enabled by default.

Requires PHP 8.2+, ships prebuilt binaries for macOS, Linux (arm64/x64) and Windows x64.

🖥️ Speaks LSP over stdio, so any editor with an LSP client works: #SublimeText, #Zed, #VSCode, #Cursor, #Neovim and #OpenCode. Official extensions handle the wiring; Neovim and OpenCode need a few config lines.

What a great day 2! There were so many great talks!

Plus @joshcirre and I had the honor of celebrating our community during the Community Updates talk we did 🙌

I have to admit, I'm terrified of public speaking, but with Simona Keburys' encouragement, I pushed through it.

As AI keeps getting better and better, I realize that being able to tell a story is no longer optional. It's a skill you have to develop. And I'm willing to keep putting myself in front of a crowd if that's what it takes to get better.

Could it have gone smoother? Absolutely.
But there's always room for improvement.

@aarondfrancis is simply the best. I knew he would come to the rescue if I blanked out. I have tremendous respect for people who can communicate so effortlessly, and Aaron is on another level.

@PovilasKorop also gave an excellent talk at #Laracon US. It's always amazing to see a fellow Lithuanian receive the recognition he deserves. Truly inspirational. Well done!

Finally, a huge thank you to Matheus Martins for creating the beautiful slides, and to Rodrigo Gnoatto Amaral for continuing to ship features and bug fixes that make GoTherapy better every day.

Laracon US is a wrap!!!

The biggest event I've ever planned:

3 days, 1,000 attendees, from 41 countries & 44 states, + 75 Laravel crew.

There's no playbook for an event like @LaraconUS , but here are a few things I did & learned:

Heavy Claude assist on this, was going to hand craft the whole thing but life was really life-ing in the 6 weeks leading up to the conference

So not quite the way I would have written this myself, but did the job for the talk. Hope it helps!

I'm convinced we're living through software's golden age, and last week's Laracon US 2026 is why. AI does the typing. Laravel removes the friction. All built for how we work now.
