Laravel News reported on September 25, 2026, that JetBrains had introduced JetBrains Air, a product family for running and coordinating AI coding agents for individual developers, teams, and organizations. CEO Kirill Skrygan presented the offering on X. Air consists of three products, and JetBrains’ own agent, Junie, is supported across all of them.

Air in JetBrains IDEs is a free plugin in public preview. It runs Claude Agent, Codex, Junie, Copilot, and OpenCode inside PhpStorm and other JetBrains IDEs. Developers can run several sessions simultaneously, review diffs with the IDE’s tools, and use existing subscriptions, API keys, or JetBrains AI credits.

Air Teams is in early access. It provides shared projects where developers and agents run tasks in cloud environments, with automations for work such as code review and release notes. Air Governance handles model and agent permissions, spending limits, and usage analytics for organizations. JetBrains previously called this product JetBrains Central.

Air also supports agents from other vendors. Agents that implement the Agent Client Protocol (ACP) can connect directly to the IDE. JetBrains is developing its own agent, but Skrygan said customers are not required to use Junie and that the company’s strategy does not depend on which model provider leads the rankings in a given quarter. Earlier integrations include Claude Agent in the PhpStorm AI Assistant and additional agents in PhpStorm 2025.3. The JetBrains Air website offers the plugin and registration for Air Teams early access.
