brick/math, a PHP library for arbitrary-precision arithmetic, has released version 1.0.0, marking its API as officially stable. The project reached this point after more than a decade of development, 804 commits, 79 beta releases and over 590 million downloads.

The library offers BigInteger, BigDecimal and BigRational classes, letting developers perform exact calculations with numbers of unlimited size, something native PHP integer and float types cannot guarantee. It is already a dependency of widely used packages such as Laravel and ramsey/uuid, meaning many projects already include it in their vendor folder without direct installation.

In the months leading up to the 1.0.0 release, the maintainers focused on polishing the library: fixing inconsistencies, cleaning up exception messages and hardening the input parser against untrusted data. With the stable release, brick/math now follows semantic versioning, so any future breaking changes will require a new major version rather than being introduced silently.

The maintainers credited the community of bug reporters, contributors and early adopters who used the 0.x versions in production over the years. They also indicated plans to bring other libraries in the Brick ecosystem to their own 1.0.0 releases in the coming months.
