Brent Roose Takes JetBrains Seat on PHP Foundation Board as Roman Pronskiy Steps Down
Brent Roose, PHP developer advocate at JetBrains and creator of the Tempest framework, has joined The PHP Foundation's Board of Directors in the JetBrains Platinum Sponsor seat.
He replaces Roman Pronskiy, founding member and first Executive Director of the Foundation, whose term has ended.
The PHP Foundation has announced a change on its Board of Directors. Brent Roose of JetBrains joins the board, taking over the JetBrains Platinum Sponsor seat. The existing members voted unanimously in favor of his appointment. The announcement was published on September 1, 2026 by Executive Director Elizabeth Barron.
Roose is a developer advocate for PHP at JetBrains. He is a regular voice on PHP Annotated, writes on his blog at stitcher.io, and created the Tempest framework, one of his larger open source projects. He also works as a content creator, event organizer, and community contributor. In his statement, Roose said PHP has been his passion for over 15 years and that he looks forward to contributing to the language's future through the board.
Roose replaces Roman Pronskiy, whose term has ended. Pronskiy was a founding member of The PHP Foundation and served as its first Executive Director. The Foundation credited his influence and effort as central to its current position and thanked him for his dedication to the sustainability of the PHP language.
