Voting has opened on the PHP "Readonly Property Defaults" RFC, announced by its author Nick Sdot on the PHP internals mailing list.
The RFC proposes allowing readonly properties to declare default values, addressing a limitation in the current readonly property implementation. Full details of the proposal are available on the PHP wiki at wiki.php.net/rfc/readonly_property_defaults, with prior discussion archived on the internals list.
The vote consists of a single primary question requiring a two-thirds majority for acceptance. Voting closes on 7 August 2026 at 05:15 UTC.
