On September 17, 2026, Remy Porter published a CodeSOD item in The Daily WTF around a representative comment attributed to Watson. The example comes from GPL-licensed code published by Oracle.
Its C-style header starts with “Copyright (c) 2011, 2013” and then repeats “2013” through a huge block. The page says line breaks were added so readers could see the extent of the repetition. The header later credits Oracle and its affiliates and includes standard GNU General Public License version 2 language covering redistribution, modification, warranty disclaimers, and contact details for the Free Software Foundation.
Porter treats the sequence as evidence of a broken autogeneration step and questions the reliability of the rest of the file. A featured comment by Doober Dooberry counts 2,013 instances of “2013”.
