OpenAI calls DevDay 2026 its biggest DevDay so far. The event included more than 20 announcements spanning ChatGPT and Codex, with model updates included. The company says AI should give people more time and freedom for creative work, while helping them pursue ideas that once seemed out of reach. It also announced agents that can take on continuing responsibility and new ways for people to work with AI.

OpenAI says it is extending its open ecosystem by making ChatGPT a shared workspace for people and agents. Development teams can deliver natively integrated applications inside ChatGPT to the 1.2 billion people who use OpenAI’s services.

The new agents are called dots. They are based on GPT‑6 Astra, which OpenAI describes as its most capable model and its best aligned with human goals. Each dot has its own cloud computer and can operate in connected apps. Users assign a goal and define the actions the dot may take independently. OpenAI says it eventually expects teams of dots to work together on a user’s behalf. Dots are available in Pro, Business Premium, and Enterprise.

Codex can run on a computer, be controlled remotely from a smartphone, or run in the cloud from any device. Reusable development environments are intended to speed up task setup and give teams shared settings and permissions that have been approved. The announcement lists Codex for Plus, Pro, Business, Healthcare, Education, and Enterprise. The linked cloud offering is marked as available on all plans.

OpenAI is also opening the platform it uses to build ChatGPT features. Plugin extensions let development teams create integrated applications inside ChatGPT. A plugin can appear in the sidebar, provide an interactive workspace beside a conversation, or show files in formats supported by the product. These extensions are available on all plans.

A separate shared space lets teams work toward common goals with ChatGPT and retain earlier work as context. Users can ask ChatGPT to turn a conversation into a page or a slide deck. ChatGPT asks clarifying questions and produces a draft while the user watches. The draft can be edited directly, revised through further prompts, or opened to the team. This feature is available on the ChatGPT desktop app and on the web for Pro, Business, and Enterprise. Mobile support is planned.

Sign in with ChatGPT lets users access participating products through their ChatGPT account without creating another password. Partner companies receive the user’s name and email address. They may also receive a profile picture when one exists. The sign-in flow shares neither chats nor memories. Users approve any additional access separately. The feature is available worldwide to people signed in to ChatGPT, subject to organization settings.
