Node.js 26.11.0 was published on 2026-10-07 as a Current release. The Node.js release notes are attributed to Antoine du Hamel. The buffer module adds isLatin1 and Buffer.stringLength(). The http module gains isValidHeaderName() and isValidHeaderValue(), and http2 adds connectionWindowSize.
perf_hooks adds histogram.diff() and histogram.snapshot(). RecordableHistogram can record zero, monitorEventLoopDelay() keeps its resolution, and histogram export format version 2 adds stronger CBOR import validation. The release also exposes performanceNodeTiming.uvMetricsInfoBigInt. process.ref/unref become stable, and Node.js adds --process-timeout=N plus size and count fields to heap profile output.
The sqlite module renames DatabaseSync and StatementSync and adds virtual table support through createModule(). Alpine Linux moves to tier 2 support. The documentation tooling moves to a redesigned site, and embedders can exempt linked bindings from the addon permission.
Dependency updates include OpenSSL 3.5.9, npm 11.20.0, undici 8.11.2, timezone data 2026e, zlib 1.3.2.1-motley-456ae73, NSS 3.129, LIEF 1.0.0, and histogram 0.12.0. Other changes improve Web Crypto, FFI, filesystem handling, HTTP hot paths, streams, TLS, QUIC, inspector behavior, modules, structuredClone, querystring parsing, and SQLite connection recovery. Fixes address buffer indexing, file descriptor handling, permission checks, pointer validation, a use-after-free in PrepareFunction, deadlocks, and test flakiness. Build work covers z/OS, C++23, macOS/Linux PGO, and OpenSSL 4.1 certificate constraints.
