Dr. Tim King, a key architect of AmigaDOS, passed away at the end of July, as confirmed by his family.
King studied computer science at Cambridge University, where he completed his Ph.D. in 1979. While still a student, he created Tripos, a preemptive multitasking operating system written in BCPL. In 1984, King joined MetaComCo, where he brought Tripos with him. The system was adapted and integrated into the Amiga computer's kernel, becoming AmigaDOS.
After MetaComCo, King founded Perihelion in 1986, a company working in operating systems, parallel processing, and transputer technology. He later established UK Online, an Internet service provider. His work on AmigaDOS contributed substantially to the Amiga's significance in computing history.
